Who we are

Kwispel and this website are provided by NETKREATIVES BV, Volaardestraat 88, 9200 Dendermonde, Belgium, enterprise number 0638.905.445. We are the controller of the personal data described in this policy. Privacy questions and requests can be sent to [email protected].

What data the app processes

All data you enter into Kwispel is about your dog: name, breed, photos, weight, daily check-ins, health logs (vaccinations, medication, parasite treatments, symptoms), planner tasks, walks and notes. This data is stored exclusively:

• On your device — in the app's local database.
• In your iCloud — Kwispel uses Apple CloudKit to sync your data between your own devices. That storage falls under your Apple account and Apple's privacy policy; we have no access to it.

Kwispel sends none of this dog data to Netkreatives servers or to third parties. The app shows no ads. Only with your consent do we measure anonymously how the app is used — see Usage statistics below. Ad measurement never contains this data and stays under your control — see Ad measurement in the app below.

Usage statistics

So we can tell whether the app is actually being used and where people get stuck, Kwispel collects anonymous usage statistics through TelemetryDeck. What it collects are fixed event names: that a screen was opened, that a care moment was logged, or that the subscription screen was shown, for example.

What is never sent: dog names, notes, free text, photos, weights or any health data whatsoever. Those stay on your device and in your iCloud.

TelemetryDeck receives no identifier at all: the device's vendor identifier (IDFV) is hashed on the device with a salt before anything is sent, and only that digest travels. These statistics use no advertising identifier (IDFA), we link nothing to an account or to your name, and they follow you across no other apps or websites. TelemetryDeck acts as a processor here.

Because no identifier is stored or transmitted, these statistics cannot identify you and cannot be traced back to your installation. Questions about how this works? Email [email protected].

Sharing with your pack (household sharing)

If you choose to share a pack, Kwispel uses Apple's CloudKit sharing. The invitation and the shared data travel through Apple's infrastructure between the participants' iCloud accounts. Only people you invite can see the shared dog data. You can withdraw access at any time in the app.

We never see who you invite or what is in a shared pack.

Subscriptions

Inside the app, Kwispel is sold through Apple's App Store. Payment, renewal and cancellation are handled by Apple; we receive no payment details. To know whether your subscription is active, the app checks purchase status through RevenueCat, which acts as a processor and receives an anonymous app user ID — not your name or email address.

Buying on the web

When web purchase is available, you can also buy a Kwispel subscription on this website, on the pages under /start. The checkout is run by RevenueCat (Web Billing) and its payment provider. You enter your email address and payment details there; we never see your full card details.

Your email address is used to send your receipt and the one-time link that unlocks the app, and to let you manage or cancel the subscription. RevenueCat keeps the purchase record and an anonymous purchase ID so the app can recognise the subscription; no account is created in Kwispel.

For VAT and accounting we keep the invoice data of a web purchase: date, amount, VAT, country and the email address on the receipt. These purchases are governed by the purchase terms at /start/terms/.

Ad measurement in the app — only with your permission

We advertise Kwispel through Meta (Facebook and Instagram). To see which ads lead to people using the app, the app can share a few events with Meta. If your App Store country is in the European Union, the EEA, the United Kingdom or Switzerland — or is unknown — the app asks you once after the introduction, and nothing is sent to Meta unless you choose Allow. Elsewhere measurement is on by default: the app explains it once and you can switch it off at any time.

If measurement is on, Meta's software in the app tells Meta that the app was installed and opened, that the introduction was finished, that the subscription screen was seen, that the buy button was tapped, and that a trial was started or a first subscription was paid, with its price and currency, together with technical information such as device model, system and app version, language, time zone and IP address. Renewals and restored purchases are not reported. Your device's advertising identifier is included only if you also answer yes to Apple's separate tracking question.

What is never shared: your dog's name, check-ins, health notes, photos, weights or anything else you enter in the app.

You can switch ad measurement off at any time in the app under Profile → Account → Ad measurement → “Share ad results with Meta”; sharing stops at once. Apple's tracking permission can be changed in the iOS Settings app. We and Meta use this data to measure which ads work and to show our ads to people the app may be useful for; Meta also processes it under its own privacy policy.

This website and cookies

Our hosting provider and Cloudflare process technical request data such as your IP address and browser headers in short-lived logs, to deliver and protect the site. Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie. The site's fonts are loaded from Google Fonts and Fontshare, which therefore receive your IP address; the pages under /start load no third-party fonts.

Statistics: Google Analytics 4 is loaded only if you allow statistics. Until then nothing from Google Analytics is loaded and no analytics cookie is set. If you allow it, Google sets the cookies _ga and _ga_<ID> (up to two years) and learns which pages you view, without the query parameters in the address; advertising features are switched off.

Ad measurement: Meta's pixel exists only on the pages under /start and is loaded only after you choose Allow. It sets the cookie _fbp (and _fbc when you arrive from an ad), both kept for 90 days, and tells Meta that you viewed the page, that a plan was shown, that the price page was opened and that checkout was started. The same events also reach Meta through a relay we run on Cloudflare, with the cookie values, your IP address and browser type, so that each event is counted once even when a browser blocks the pixel. After a web purchase the relay has it confirmed by RevenueCat and then reports the trial or purchase with its amount and currency, plus a hashed (SHA-256) form of the email address and of the anonymous purchase ID. Your answers to the questions are never sent. Without Allow none of this happens: nothing from Meta is loaded, no marketing cookie is set and nothing reaches the relay.

Your choices are stored in your browser only (local storage, keys kwispel:analytics-consent:v1 and w2a.consent, no expiry, never sent to us). You can change them at any time through “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page; if you refuse later, the cookies concerned are deleted as well.

Why we may process this

Performing our contract with you: providing the app, confirming purchases, and handling web purchases, receipts and the unlock link. A legal obligation: keeping invoice and VAT records. Our legitimate interest in a working and secure product: technical logs, site security and answering support requests. Your consent: ad measurement in the app where it is required, the advertising identifier, and Google Analytics and the Meta pixel on this website. You can withdraw consent at any time; that does not affect earlier processing.

Who receives data, and where

The recipients are the providers named above: Apple, TelemetryDeck (Germany), RevenueCat and its payment provider, Cloudflare, our hosting provider, the font services of Google and Fontshare and — only with your consent — Google Analytics and Meta. They act on our behalf or, in Meta's case, also for their own purposes. Meta Platforms Ireland, RevenueCat, Cloudflare, Google and Apple may process data in the United States; those transfers rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. We do not sell personal data.

How long we keep data

Data in the app stays on your device and in your iCloud until you delete it. Your consent choices stay in the app or in your browser until you change them. Meta's cookies last 90 days and Google Analytics cookies up to two years, unless you delete them earlier. We keep the invoice data of web purchases for as long as Belgian accounting and tax law requires, and support emails for up to two years after the last contact. The providers keep data as described in their own policies.

Your rights

You may ask us for access to your personal data, correction, deletion, restriction and a copy in a portable format, and you may object to processing based on our legitimate interest. Write to [email protected]; we answer within one month. You may also lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit), Drukpersstraat 35, 1000 Brussels, www.dataprotectionauthority.be, or with the authority where you live.

Most data never reaches us. You control the dog data yourself: delete dogs or individual logs in the app, and remove the Kwispel data from iCloud through Settings. The “Delete your data” page explains the steps.

Children

Kwispel is not aimed at children and does not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we update the date at the top of this page.
